How is it Modified?

Yo. Today was FREEEZING. I was walking to school, and the wind was blowing into my face at about 50 mph, and my ears almost died from frost bite. After I walked the dog who is mine in spirit, I had hot cocoa, made by swiss miss©. The list of ingredients is as folows:
Sugar, corn syrup, modified whey, cocoa(prosesed with alkalai), hydroginated cocoa nut oil, ect., ect.
How is the whey modified? Why did they modify it? What did the modification even do? I'm greatly troubled. The problem is, I just consumed a massive amount of hot cocoa. *shudder*

-gigi, who is the only one who would post somthin like this, with this many spelling errors.

Y'know, I'm NOT, I repeat, NOT making swiss miss<> a philosophical object, I'm just deeply distubed by the commercial food industry, and. . . modified whey.
